Sheikh Sa’di Saadi R.a

Sheikh Sa’di Saadi  in Persian سعدی full name: al-Dīn ibn Musharrif Muslih al-Dīn) ( 1213 , Shiraz – December 9, 1291 , Shiraz ) is one of the leading poets Persian period medieval , recognized not only by the quality of his writing, but by the depth of their social sensitivity.
A native of Shiraz , Persia , Saadi left his hometown at an early age to study Arabic literature and science Islam in Baghdad , between 1195 and 1226 .
The conditions of instability that followed the invasion Mughal him to travel through Anatolia , Syria , Egypt and Iraq . It also refers in his trip to India and central Asia . Saadi’s experience is similar to that of Marco Polo , who was in the region between 1271 and 1294 . There is however a difference between the two, while Marco Polo was associated especially with the powerful and the “good life”, Saadi lived with ordinary people, Mughal Holocaust survivors. He met late into the night exchanging ideas with merchants, farmers, religious, walkers, thieves and beggars . For twenty years or more, continued the same routine of sermons, warnings, learning, honing and polishing his dialectic in gems that illuminate the wisdom and the weakness of his people.
When he reappeared in his native Shiraz he was already a grown man. The city, under the rule of Abubakr Sa’d ibn Zangy Atabak (1231-1260) enjoyed a period of relative tranquility. Saadi was not only welcome, but managed to respect the ruling and was named among the greats of the province. In response, Saadi took his literary name of the ruler, Sa’d ibn Zangi, and composed some of the most beautiful panegyrics as initial gesture of gratitude for the ruling house and placed them at the beginning of his Bostan . It is believed that he spent the rest of his life in Shiraz.

Abul Qaasim Hazrat Sheikh Junaid-e-Baghdadi R.a

Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (May Allah bless him)

Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (r.a) has been another remarkable man from the elite group called the Taba Taba’een, and his excellence in the sufi line is accepted by all spiritual teachers and leaders. His status amongst the people who believe in purity in actions and those who believe in purity of heart is of immense value.
Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (r.a) was a companion of Hazrat Sufyan Thauri (r.a) and the pupil of Hazrat Sari Saqti (r.a).
Once some people asked Hazrat Sari Saqti (r.a):
“Can the status of a pupil exceed his teacher’s?”
Hazrat replied:
“Yes and the evidence of that is Junaid (r.a) as his status is greater than mine.”
However it is said that this statement from Hazrat Sari Saqti (r.a) was due to his modesty and owing to the vision of the great status that Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (r.a) would achieve later on.
Once while Hazrat Saqti (r.a) was still alive, his pupils requested Hazrat Junaid (r.a) to give them some advice, but Hazrat Junaid (r.a) declined this request and said:
“I cannot give you advice while my teacher is alive.”
That night Hazrat Junaid (r.a) was honored with a meeting with the Holy Prophet (saw) in his dream. Our Beloved Prophet (saw) said to him:
“O Junaid! Give good advice to people as Allah Almighty has made your speech the cause of guidance to people.”
When Hazrat Junaid (r.a) woke up next day he thought to himself that perhaps his status had exceeded his teacher’s, which is why the Prophet of Allah (saw) had ordered him to give advice to people.
In the morning Hazrat Saqti (r.a) sent one of his pupils to Hazrat Junaid (r.a) with this message:
“You did not give advice on the request of my pupils, declined the request of other spiritual leaders of Baghdad, and also abstained from giving advice on my saying you to do so. But now that our Holy Prophet (saw) has ordered you, you have to do it.”
This message cleared the heart of Hazrat Junaid (r.a) of the thought that he had exceeded his teacher in status, for Hazrat Saqti (r.a) was well aware of his visible and hidden states and had full knowledge of his secrets, while Junaid (r.a) himself was unaware of any such details regarding his teacher.
So Hazrat Junaid went to his great teacher, asked for his forgiveness due to the thought that had crept into his mind and asked Hazrat Saqti (r.a):
“How did you know that I had the honor of meeting the Holy Prophet (saw) in my dream last night?”
Hazrat Saqti (r.a) replied:
“I have had the glorious honor of meeting Allah Almighty in my dream last night. He told me that He had sent his Beloved (saw) to Junaid (r.a) to order him to give advice to people. This was done so that the people of Baghdad might be granted their wish.”
According to traditions the great Sheikh Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (r.a) relates a bizarre incident as follows:
I had the wish to behold Iblees (satan) so one day I was standing in the doorstep of a mosque and saw a very old man walking towards me. When I saw him my heart was overcome with fright and when that man had come near me I asked him:
“O old man! Who are you that I can hardly set me eyes on you due to fright and I cannot think of you due to fear in my heart?”
The old man replied:
“I am the one whom you had wished to see.”
Hazrat Junaid (r.a) condemned him and asked:
“O Cursed one! What prevented you from prostrating before Hazrat Adam (a.s)?”
Satan replied:
“O Junaid! How could you even think that I would prostrate before anyone else other than Allah Almighty?”
Hazrat Junaid (r.a) says that this answer from satan astonished him and for a few moments he was lost for words. Then suddenly a voice came from Hazrat’s heart:
“O Junaid! Say to this cursed one: You are a liar! If you were an obedient of Allah Almighty then you would never have declined His commandment and chosen the stray path.”
Ibless screamed after hearing this voice from my heart and said to me:
“By Allah! You have set me on fire!”
Then he disappeared.
This incident is evidence that Allah Almighty protects His loved ones from the deception of satan and Hazrad Junaid Baghdadi (r.a) is indeed one of His loved ones..
